How to create a new local user windows 10 home and pro edition

Are you wondering why it’s important to create a new local user on your device?

A local account is a simple combination of a username and a password that you use to access your Windows 10 device. It’s optional to have a password while you create a new local user, yet we suggest adding one. It will prevent anyone else to get access to your account.

There are many reasons why you may choose to create a local account:

Some people prefer a more “locked-down” experience that gives them more control over their data. Local accounts do not include online functions such as syncing between multiple Windows 10 devices.
You can access your device as an administrator and enjoy a more simplified experience for everyday use.

Here are 9 easy steps to create a new local user on windows 10 home and pro edition:

  1. In the start button down left of your toolbar click on settings
  2. Find accounts section
  3. Select family and other users
  4. Click the plus sign to add a new user
  5. Check on I don’t have this person sign-in information
  6. Simply click on add user without a Microsoft account
  7. Now you need to enter the username and  password then answer the security questions (It’s important to always remember the security questions)
  8. Once you enter the entire required information click next
  9. Finally, you can log in using the username and password you entered in the previous steps.

Below is a video that goes step by step in describing the process.
